CMC Traffic Control designed and Implemented all traffic routing, including detours and work area shut downs for the 3rd Street Light Rail Project. This extension of MUNI's light rail service spans the distance between Jerrold Avenue and Donner Avenue in the Bayview commercial district and is one of nine segments along the 3rd Street corridor as part of MUNI's plan to transform 3rd Street into one of the City's 'Great Streets'. In conjunction with the City's revitalization efforts and through a series of design elements that will include widened sidewalks with special artist-designed paving patterns, distinct neighborhood trees, pedestrian lighting, and unique colored rail trackway paving, 3rd Street will also serve as a 'Main Street' for the various and distinct communities along the corridor. Construction of the new light rail includes construction of underground utilities for electrical, sewer, water and high pressure water systems; track work, transit platforms, sub-sidewalk basement modifications, roadway pavement, sidewalk reconstruction, landscaping, street lighting, traffic signals, and overhead catenary system.
